This publication was developed specifically to help middle and high school
students prepare for their state’s standardized mathematics tests. “Preparing
for State Standardized Mathematics Tests” includes lessons and exercise
sets that correlate to the mathematics content standards and benchmarks of
most states. The exercise sets contain short answer problems, sample
multiple choice questions, and extended response problem-solving tasks.
There are 43 lessons covering the topics of Number Sense, Measurement,
Algebra, Geometry, and Probability and Statistics. Each lesson consists of
two pages of instruction and review followed by two pages of practice
exercises including short answer general practice, multiple choice practice,
and one problem-solving task.
This book is intended to be a rich source of review material for students
who have learned these skills in the past, but need review. It is not intended
to be a complete text for those learning these skills for the first time.
Parents can use this book to refresh their own knowledge so they will be
able to help their children prepare for the test. Students can use it for self-
directed review, and teachers can use it as supplemental material for a
regular math course, or as the basis for a standardized test preparation
course.
